Plan C

The first, best plan (Plan A) is always to do things right, and this is where you should always start.

The next best plan (Plan B) is to come as close to right as you can given the real world constraints under which you labor (inclusive of schedule, budget, technology, manufacturing capability, and nincompoops).

The last best plan (Plan C) is to make sure you and your people don’t get the blame for things y’all did not cause (or exacerbate). See also Pearl Harbor File.

This sounds frivolous and impertinent, but it really isn’t. Sometimes, Plan C is the only way you can motivate people to get anything done at all.

Plan D is to shift the blame for things you DID cause, and is dishonest. Do not EVER let me catch you doing that.
